2015 Playoff Summary

“AAA” North

The second-seeded Rockets won the title.

In a play-in game, Aidan Burwell wore the hat, Logan Casey scored twice and Maddox Jacobsen had two assists as the Jets nipped AB, 5-3 – Matt Carolan with two goals and an assist and Jack Hashem 1-1-2 in the loss;

In the quarterfinals, Zach Bova had two goals and an assist and scored the winner with 5:12 left and Craig Wilson had a goal and an assists as the Rockets edged the Tanners, 5-4 – Jack Lee with two goals in the loss; Joe Orlando, Colby Jewell and Chris Karvelas all wore hats, Orlando with three assists and Jewell and Karvales one apiece, and James Sanfillipo posted 1-1-2 as the Fishermen topped the Jets, 11-4 – Casey with two goals in the loss; Marco Mottola forced overtime with a goal with 1:12 left in regulation and Finn Kelly’s second of the game, 50 seconds into the OT, gave the Arrows a 5-4 decision over the Mariners, who got two goals from Trevor Payne and two assists from Kyle Hart; and Max Gagnon erupted for six goals, Gavin Marengi scored twice, Lucas Tinkham had 1-1-2 and Carson Irvin two assists as the Vikings defeated Micro Ice, 6-3 – Christian Palm with two goals and Trey Sheehey two assists in the loss.

In the semifinals, T.J. Michel scored with 2:35 left in overtime to give the Rockets a 6-5 victory over the Arrows, who flashed a three-goal rally to force OT – Cam Morrow with a hat trick and an assist and Alex Zessis two assists in the win and Kelly 2-2-4 and Pat Hampton and Casey Kelley 1-2-3 apiece in the loss; and Jewell wore the hat and Orlando had 1-1-2 as the Fishermen edged the Vikings, 4-3 – Gagnon with three assists in the loss.

In the championship game, Craig Wilson scored four goals and set up another, Brandon Vitarisi scored twice, Morrow and Johnny Tighe both delivered a goal and an assist and Gavin O’Connor two assists as the Rockets downed the Fishermen, 11-6 – Orlando with a hat trick and an assist and Jewell 2-1-3 in the loss.

The third-seeded Chieftans won the championship.

In the quarterfinals, John Mireault wore the hat, Ben Merrill dished out three assists and Miles Mireault had a goal and an assist as the Chieftans downed Muddy River, 5-2 – Walker with both goals and Lawrence assists on both in the loss; PJ Civitarese scored with 9:30 left to give the Redmen a 2-1 decision over the Bobcats; Nick Muse scored four goals and set up two others, Brady Leonard delivered a goal and four assists and Colton Carpenter and Brayden Hayes both scored twice as the Stampede topped the S. Ma. Warriors, 9-4 – Joey Nee and Richard Bradbury with two goals apiece for the Warriors; and Jackson DeVivo wore the hat and had an assist and Colby Arel and Mike Dunphy both posted two assists as the Clippers defeated the Fighting Irish, 6-1.

In the semifinals, Merrill scored two goals and dished out three assists, Dominick Cerundolo scored four goals and John Mireault also wore a hat, adding an assist, as the Chieftans eliminated the Stampede, 9-4 – Muse with a goal and three assists and Leonard two assists in the loss; and Finn McNeil wore the hat and had an assist, Will Forrest set up three goals, DeVivo had 1-1-2, Dunphy two assists and Damien Lamb the shutout as the Clippers topped the Redmen, 6-0.

In the final, Will Carey forced overtime with a goal with 29 seconds left and John Mireault, who also had an assist, capped a hat trick with 25 seconds remaining in the OT to give the Chieftans a 6-5 victory over the Clippers, who got 1-1-2 from DeVivo and two assists from Cooper Brown.

"AA" South

The second-seeded Red Wings won the championship.

In the quarterfinals Thornborough and Miga both scored twice and AJ Farise pitched a shutout as Chieftans Red downed the Mariners, 4-0; and Farrell scored four goals as the Lady Flames defeated Chieftans White, 6-2.

In the semifinals, Christos Panagakis tied the game with 4:04 left in the second period and then scored with 1:51 remaining in the game to give the Red Wings a 3-2 decision over the Flames – and Farise won a goaltending battle with Nick Stallings, both registering shutouts as Chieftans Red edged AB, 1-0, in a shootout.

In the title game, Panagakis scored four goals and set up another, Brent Yaffee had a goal and two assists and Brenna O’Reilly and Tyler Heldenbergh both delivered a goal and an assist as the Red Wings defeated the Chieftans, 10-2 – Rogers with both goals in the loss.
